How To Move Your Pieces
Moving pieces is super easy! Just click on the piece you want to move, then click where you want it to go. But each piece moves differently:
- Pawns - These little guys move forward one square (or two on their first move) and attack diagonally. Kinda like they're shy until they fight!
- Knights - The trickiest pieces! They move in an "L" shape (two squares one way, then one square perpendicular). They're the only pieces that can jump over others!
- Rooks - These castle-looking pieces go horizontally or vertically as far as you want. Straight-line power!
- Bishops - Diagonal movers that can go any distance. Keep them on their original color!
- Queens - The most OP piece! Can move any direction, any distance. Protect your queen at all costs!
- Kings - The VIP! Moves one square in any direction. If your king is captured (checkmate), game over!
Pro Gamer Tip!
Try to control the center of the board early in the game. It gives your pieces more options and makes you look like you know what you're doing!
Getting Started - Let's Play!
Ready to show off your skills? Here's how to jump in:
1. Pick Your Game Mode
- Quick Match - Perfect when you only have a few minutes
- Timed Games - You have a clock! Don't let it run out!
- Tournaments - Compete against multiple players to win prizes
2. Choose Your Opponent
- AI Bot - Practice mode with different difficulty levels
- Friends - Challenge your besties and show them who's boss
- Random Players - Match with someone your skill level from anywhere!
How to Win - Checkmate!
The whole point of chess is to trap your opponent's king with no escape. That's called checkmate!
You need to put their king in a position where:
- It's under attack (in "check")
- It can't move to a safe square
- No other piece can block or capture your attacking piece
Beginner Strategy!
Try the four-move checkmate (Scholar's Mate) on your friends. They'll be totally shocked when you win in like 20 seconds!
